Am I crazy?

I have caught the racing bug. I just signed up for the Carpinteria Triathlon. Originally I was going to just do the sprint course but at the last minute I decided to go for the olympic course instead. Why not push yourself if you are going to do it, right?!?! I just I hope I have not gotten myself into a pickle for training. I have an upcoming 3 week trip to Costa Rica planned. There will be very little training done during this period. I guess that I will just have to use my time wisely and get the workouts in when I can. When in doubt go workout!!

Sundae Sunday

I am addicted to ice cream. I can't get enough of the cold creamy stuff. Unfortunately, I have been over indulging. As an attempted to work on my healthier lifestyle I am only having ice cream on Sunday. Now it has become more of a treat again and I find myself enjoying it much more. It is also the perfect motivator for my long runs!
This week I had a lovely strawberry waffle cone from McConnell's in Santa Barbara. It was delicious and well worth the wait.

Beach Run

It is a gray day here in Carpinteria and low tide happens to be @ 9:30. So I think I might switch things up with a nice easy flat beach run.

Frozen Hips

I have run a couple of half marathons before and my hips always freeze at about mile 11. I end up shuffling to the finish line. Not a good look and not real comfortable. I am in real trouble if I don't strengthen ahead of time. This video should help I hope.

The Title, Lose Yourself

I have touched a little on the meaning of my blog title but there is really much more to it than simply weight loss. At this point in my life I have the blazing urge to run for miles on end in an attempt to "lose myself". I feel like I have been living in a strange fog lately and the only way to get out of the fog is to run. I guess it is a lot like Forest Gump.

This past year has been filled with too many bumps in the road. I feel like running will help me gain back some control or at least help me clear my head. Nothing sounds better to me than running for hours on end. I have never had this feeling so I thought I had better harness it and use to my advantage by running my first marathon.

Wish me luck, Kristin R.

Before

Part of the reason I decided to run a marathon is to help take off a few (well hopefully more than a few) of the pounds I have gained in the last few months. Life has been a bit of a struggle lately. I have had lots of disappointments and too many good-byes. I had not even noticed but I stopped working out and starting eating a lot more. I am an eater. When things get difficult I reach for the Easy Cheese! Now my plan is to reach for my running shoes instead.

Here are a few before pictures to help get me motivated.
